Hi Colonial Soccer Club families,

Happy New Year! We have two important updates to share regarding the upcoming US Soccer age group changes and our partnership with the organization Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA).

1. US Soccer Age Group Changes (Important for Travel & Select Programs Only)

Beginning with the 2026–27 season, U.S. Soccer is shifting youth age groups from calendar year (Jan 1–Dec 31) to a seasonal/school-year format (Aug 1–July 31).

Key Changes & Timeline

• 2025–26 Season:
  No changes — we will continue with calendar-year age groups to finish the current travel season.

• 2026–27 Season & Beyond:
  Age groups will transition to seasonal year (Aug 1–July 31) starting with travel tryouts.

This change affects TRAVEL & SELECT programs only.
Intramural divisions will remain the same.

To help families understand the change, we will host a Virtual Parent Workshop + Town Hall with PCA.

2. Colonial SC Announces 1-Year Partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)

We are thrilled to begin a year-long partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, a national nonprofit committed to creating “Better Athletes, Better People.”

With more than 1,700 athletes in our programs, PCA will help us strengthen our community, support parents and coaches, and create the best developmental environment for our players.

How Colonial SC Will Work with PCA

1. Interactive PCA Workshops
   We will host three sessions for:

   • Coaches

   • Board Members

   • Parents

The Parent Workshop is virtual, free, and includes the Age Group Change Town Hall:

2. Ongoing Access to PCA Resources
   Families, coaches, and players will have access to hundreds of free tools, videos, and articles at PCADevZone.org.
