Special Issues

Presentation of Scholarships:

Diana Cnudde was awarded 1st place and a $1000 check and Megan McCreesh was awarded runner up and a $500 check.

Market America:

This is an on-line store for our members through our website.  The training for this will be ½ hour before our next scheduled meeting.  Joe has tried out this website and it appears that the prices are cheaper than in the stores and the shipping is free.

Select Coach Nominations:

The coaches will get elected in August.

The select teams can work with the travel teams if so desired.

Tony Caffrey may want to head up a select team, Dawn G. to confirm.

Brandon and/or Alan are interested in U8.

Mark and Joe’s Meeting with Terry Yemm:

The soccer club did have a set of contracts for the fields, but these have been misplaced and/or lost.  However, the club has been reassured that the contracts are fine and will be honored.

There will be a new Director of Fields that will coordinate the field space and keep the schedules in an automated system (and will eventually be available on the school website).  There was an issue with Chestnut Hill College, ourselves and the Conshohocken Bull Dogs (who apparently told LaSalle lacrosse the fields were available, but were not Conshy’s fields) – Victory 1 is Chestnut Hill College Field. If there is someone on our fields, we need to nicely ask them to leave as the club owns the contract. We should request our fall field space in June and our spring field space in February. The zoning for the 4/5 school was approved, but only for school practice.

The Colonial Soccer Club should practice on their own field, as well as the Conshohocken Bull Dogs practicing on their own field. The stadium field is NOT included in this proposal.

There is a NEED to fill 2 Coordinator Positions:

1st grade male and 1st and 2nd grade female – if there is NO Coordinator there will be NO division

Lack of Sponsors:

At this time last year, we had 33 sponsors, currently we only have 10.  The sponsor fee is currently $250 per sponsor.  There is just some concern and there was a discussion of whether this fee should be increased.  If we cannot maintain our sponsorship, this could an increase per child as much as $25.  Joe is working on this issue with Renee as well.

Shirts are in (at least 30 boxes) at Deb’s house.

Travel teams – each team has own account.  When a sponsor SPONSORS the travel team the money goes directly to the travel team.  Some suggestions – can the travel team reimburse the sponsor fee to the club?  Should the sponsors be on the shirts for the travel teams? One issue is that the sponsorship on the website had to be done completely separate from registering the kids, which may have lost some sponsors initially. There are 74 intramural teams currently planned. Joe and the rest of the club should be concerned about the lack of sponsors.

Standard Reports:

President – Joe Hunter:

No report.

Vice President Travel (open):

There have been lack of responses from some of the soccer coaches.  Joe is set to go toInterCountytomorrow to register the teams.  One suggestion was made that maybe Courtney (from ICSL) should make the rules for the travel packets and communicate back to us (or all of the clubs).

Vice President Intramural – George Sandcroft:

We do not have the ratings from last year.  There is currently a cost to have a “ratings” field on the website.  Deb may have the ratings from last year. Requests are coming from parents suggesting coaches, kids on same teams, etc…George will send this information to the coordinators.

Technology – Allan Corpus:

No report.

Treasurer – Kris Kaufmann:

As of 6/30 statements, no issues.

Director of Coaching – Andres Marin:

3 Points

There will be a MANDATORY travel coaches meeting on Thursday, August 11th at 7pm.  At this meeting, Andy will introduce himself (again) and speak to the coaches about evaluations and what can be done to  make the teams more successful.  Junior coaches can attend if the head coach cannot.

There are two dates set for License D Coaching.  These will be 2 hour sessions each and both days need to be attended.  We would like all coaches to go and in the future, may try and implement this standard for anyone coaching the children.  The dates are either Wednesday August 17th from 7 to 9 and Thursday August 18th from 7 to 9 OR Saturday (Date to TBA) from 8 to 12.  To obtain the license, the individuals must have at least 4 hours of training.  This is open to anyone 14 years and older. As a side note, any license coaches would be welcomed by the intramural coaches to come out and help coach the kids (show some pointers) during the 1st two weeks of intramurals.

We would like to have a Positive Soccer Alliance for ALL parents.  This would help the parents understand how to better encourage the kids from the sidelines (as well as how to act).  We are looking at either Thursday, Sept 8th or Friday, Sept 9th in the evenings for these classes.

Suggestion – Can we possibly put the parent’s alliance on the website too, in case parents cannot attend the classes offered?

There was a suggestion (and approval) to have a festival the 1st week of intramural soccer.  We will look into having a UNION player come out this day as well.

Chief of Referees – Ivan Bell:

There are enough referees for the 1st grade boys and up.

Director of Fundraising – Rob Brown:

No report.

Director of Equipment – Tom Jerin:

Picking up equipment from Angelo’s this weekend.

Director of Fields – Mark Melvin:

See above/President’s report.

Registration – Debbie Miller:

No report.

Union Partnership – Nick Liska:

Cannot do a UNION player night at Dick’s Sporting Goods – Has been suggested to have a player come to the festival for intramural, however, we can only have 1 player in 1 location for approximately 1 ½ hours. For next year, it would be great to be self sufficient and have the kids be escorts to the UNION players – can we sell all tickets for other games?

Coordinators:

No reports.

Coaches:

Travel Coaches – will uniforms be available for the tournaments at the end of August?  The answer is PROBABLY NOT, but no one is sure.  One option is to have the travel teams use last year’s uniforms.

New Business:

None.

Old Business:

None.

Good of the Game:

None.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
